Boy, what a crazy year. I can't remember being so busy. Working overtime, moving and the end of the Nascar season are keeping me on my toes. By the grace of God we have been able to keep on top of things. I am proud to announce the preperations for the Fantasy Banquet are coming along nicely. There will be some changes this year in the format. I would like to take a minute here and share them with you.
In the past it seems to me that the 'show' runs too long. I have taken some steps to decrease the amount of time I need to stand up on stage and wax poetic. Instead of giving away 100 Nascar trinkets we will instead be auctioning off a small number of high-value Nascar collectibles. JNFL members will be given raffle tickets to put into lotteries for each prize. Should you find one item especially nice they can put all their tickets into one prize chance or spread them among all the prizes. While I wont tell you what the prizes are now I will say that we got a great deal once again from our friends ath R&A Collectibles at the Quakertown Farmer's Market (Q-Mart).
Due to a massive shortage of free time I am going to do my best here in the next couple of days to put together a presentation of some sort for your viewing pleasure, just not sure what it will look like yet. The trophy is finsihed, I still have to pick it up. First Mother Martha has once again put together a DVD of unique video clips from the past Nascar season.

The JNFL final standings are done and I am ready to post them. Please understand that I will have to keep them unofficial for a little while here while I double and triple check the points. That being said I am fairly certain all the people currently sitting in the winning positions all are legal.
Also, remember way back in the beginning of the season when Carl Edwards failed post-race inspection for having an oil cover off. Nascar took away 100 points and said his win would not count for bonus points if he made the playoffs. Well, we did the same thing here in the JNFL. In order for me to make the scoring correct, instead of putting a one (1) into the database indicating a win, I entered a two (2) so that another win would not be added to the JNFL Members total for the season. Then when the playoffs started everyone was awarded the correct amount of bonus points - 10 points for each win. Now that the season is over, I need to go back and adjust that finish for Edwards to a win. While that 'win' did not earn him bonus points for the Chase it is still a win that would help break a tie in the standings. Currently I see only one person (Inez) who is currently tied and picked Edwards on that fatefull day in Las Vegas. Alas, even with the extra win added to her total, she loses the next tie-breaker of points in the final race. Sure is a whole lot of chatter about nothing but I thought you might find that interesting.
JNFL Final Standings:
Adult Champion - Bill Davenport
Lucky Dog winner - Barry 'The Hatchet' Davenport
Kid's League Champion - Tia Davenport
Rookie Of the Year - Dale Bauman
Fantasy Medallion - Sean Cook
Last Place - Wendy
Poker Champion - Frog

HOMESTEAD UPDATE!!! - The kitchen will be open Sunday - DO NOT bring a dish! Thank you.
The final race of the season is upon us and once again I would like to ask everyone in the JNFL to make their way to the Indian Valley Inn this Sunday for the broadcast of the Homestead race. This being the 10th year of the JNFL I am proud to say I have been to every season-ending race party that the I.V. has held. This party is always special because all of the contenders for the JNFL Championship sit together and watch their fates decided on the track while the JNFL Press takes pictures and conducts interviews.
This year will be no different. If you are a JNFL member who has a chance at winning our cherished championship, please drop any plans you had for Sunday and haul your fanny to the bar. Frankly, if you are a member of the JNFL you should be in attendance. Not really sure why I feel the need to talk you into coming. We are all crazy about Nascar and have been playing this game for 10 months now. You are going to watch the race so come do it with the rest of your fellow JNFL members at the Indian Valley Inn. When we started this season I put the word out that this would be a watershed event for the future of this wonderful league. Attendance at this party and the JNFL Fantasy Banquet are basically essential to retaining your JNFL membership in 2009. Obviously if you can't make it you can't make it, thats life. If you don't want to come, that is a different story, and honestly, that is the kind of person that should have no business winning our trophy.
I just talked to the powers that be at the bar and they tell me that the format has not changed. They are asking that everyone who comes the kitchen will be open so DO NOT bring any food. There will be beer specials, raffles and side pools on top of your pick for the race.
On a special note, I just remembered that this February, the day after June and I tied the knot, we were in the bar for the Budweiser Shootout party. Now this Friday June and I will official buy our first house and be handed the keys. Instead of moving in we will be hanging out at the bar for the final race party. If we can make it, you should be there too.

The JNFL standings following Phoenix are done and I will share them with you at the bottom of this brief paragraph. We are down to just one race to go - as you may have figured out. Gosh golly if after 35 races it has come done to just a 5-point difference between leader Bill Davenport and former JNFL Champion Dave Mantle. Should make for a fun Homestead party! We will have to make sure they sit next to each other. As for the Lucky Dog standings it looks like a minor miracle will be needed for June to catch and pass Barry 'The Hatchet' Davenport. She is 95 points behind. Basically id Barry makes a pick that finished 20th or better at Homestead, he will be the winner. Tia has all but locked up the Kid's League championship. She only needs to make a pick that is legal and starts the race at Homestead and there is nothing anyone can do to stop her. Congrats Tia!

Special thanks to John Ralston for all his help here recently. For whatever reason it seems that anything that can go wrong with the website has decided to happen right as the season is trying to wind up. I have been struggling to just add a picture or upload a little information the past two weeks. To say this has been extremely frustrating would not do it justice. It is humbling to realize the only way I can publish any updated information is in the Forum - that nobody uses. Some sort of twisted irony I am still absorbing.
