Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone.  What a great weekend for race fans with the Indy 500 and the World 600 on Sunday.  Having covered the Charlotte race last May in person it is especially exciting here at the JNFL Headquarters.  What a great time.  I will never forget the sensation of Turn 1, seeing them dump in there at 200 mph.  Really impressive.

The boys practiced once and qualified on Thursday.  They have another practice Saturday afternoon at 3pm followed by Happy Hour at 6:20pm.  I figure they will start the Busch race after that is run.  The Green Flag for the Coca-Cola 600 is a little early (5:40pm) for a night race so be alert.

I have updated the stars (*) next to the driver's names for this Charlotte race.  Looks like Bill Elliott has come out of retirement and is taking Ken Schrader's ride for as long as his provisionals will allow him to cash a check.  Dale Jarrett is also back in the field, nice to have you back fella!

As for Dale's teamates they both wrecked in qualifying and missed the race.  Looked like driver error for both David Reutimann and Michael Waltrip from where I was sitting.  Waltrip is a mess.  Will he ever qualify for a race again?  Will he ever make it through a qualifying lap without wrecking again?  Are they building chassises faster than Mike is destroying them?  At this point I thnk Michael Waltrip the owner should fire Michael Waltrip the driver, wait for Bill Elliott to use up all his provisionals and then get his brother Darrell to drive his dream machine out of the negative.  Why stop there, take it one step further and quit.  Then he can pack up his Jap crap and head back to the island and retire there.  But hey, don't do it for me.  Do it for yourself.  Enough is enough.  You gotta know when to say when.  That's just my opinion though, whatever you want Mike.

Dear JNFL,

This Saturday night is the Nextel Cup All-Star Challenge. Although we don't have to make a pick because it is not a points event, we do however get together for the JNFL All-Star Party. Everyone in the JNFL is encouraged to attend. And feel free to bring a friend.

Basically everybody throws a five in a hat and during the night there are about five segments of racing. As the night moves along you will make a pick for each segment. The person with the best finishes at the end wins the hat. I think we shared some with second place - all depends on how many show.

While all that is going on the bar will be giving away gifts and there are drink specials as well.

To top off the evening everyone is encouraged to bring a little dish of food to share with the crowd. Nothing big but usually there is a great collection to pick from - nobody will go home hungry.

This is a really special time and I wish you all would come - it is not nearly as fun without you. Be sure and get there a little early so you can get signed up and get situated.

Looks like it is raining pretty hard in Darlington.  Not really looking good for getting the race in tonight but maybe.  If they run my guess is it will be after 9pm before they start.  While I am certainly not a weatherman by any means my sources tell me that Darlington is located right next to Florence - and they are sitting in the middle of a giant cell showing up on the radar.  For your own look, check out this website - CLICK HERE.

Looking for something to do while you watch races this month?  Head to the Indian Valley Inn where you will find all the JNFL Members getting together for some laughs with drink specials and prizes available from the bar.  It is always a good time to come out for the JNFL All-Star Party.  We don't have to make a league pick so we play a cool game for peanuts that makes the Nextel Cup All-Star race in Charlotte a blast to watch.  All of these events are attended by the JNFL Press corp and proper racing attire should be worn.  Looks like a nice crowd is already gathered waiting out the rain for tonights race.

I finally updated the 1st Place and Basement pages through Richmond.  Sorry I have been slipping on that stuff getting them updated on a timely basis.  Probably why I have been taking so much flak these days.  See if I can't be a better JNFL President for you all.  Come to think of it I forgot to do the stars (*) next to the drivers names this morning.  Shoot.  BRB.

Okay, the drivers are updated for Darlington.  Went and saw the band Jet last night up at the Crocodile Rock Cafe in Allentown and got back real late.  My ears have been ringing all day.  Had a great time though, the show was really cool.  Nice little joint and the band is our favorite here at the JNFL Headquarters.  (I touched the lead singer!)  You may remember a bunch of their songs have been played at the JNFL Fantasy Banquet the past few years.  Hope you all were able to steer clear of any picking mistakes due to my slacking off.
