Newman_rogue.jpgNASCAR is Back on Track

The Daytona 500 is over and Ryan Newman came out on top with the help of his teammate Kurt Busch and the "Rogue" at the end to bring him in. Congrats to Newman and the whole Penske Team. Awesome Win for the Rocket.

Only 2 players in the JNFL took Newman and they are Roland and Danny. Whatever it was that told them to pick him, I would sure like to know. Thats something you want to listen to all season. Congrats to them!

I don't know about the rest of you but I was very glad to see that NASCAR stepped up and admitted to being wrong and changed the way they are handling this sport and its drivers. As fans we all had a voice and it was heard. The cars and the racing were almost normal again and the fans couldn't be happier. Most of the team owners, drivers, media and the like, all had smiles on their faces. The commercials were even better than the ones during the Super Bowl. The Daytona 500 has finally become the most watched sporting event in history. The manufactures showed up with all their bells and whistles and Dodge rang the winner with Toyota in second blowing their own horn having the top horsepower for the weekend.

The racing at Daytona was not as bad as I thought it would be for the most part. There were several points in the race that it became just several packs on the track but those fellas were tradin paint and bangin never-the-less. The best parts of the race came after a restart when the packs all came together. The end of the race was one of the most exciting I have seen at Daytona. The movement of the cars was like in years past and the drafting was too. Just like NASCAR said it would be. They also said that the driver and the set up on the car would be more important rather than the areo on the car. Once again they were correct. NASCAR did a very good job despite all the negative press. I am impressed.

I was glad to see how the whole deal of speed weeks came out. The drivers and fans alike echoed the same thoughts and gave NASCAR a huge kudos for not fining Stewart or Busch after their altercation. I was also very pleased to see NASCAR stand up for both drivers and didn't expose what really happened in the hauler with the duo. They as drivers should be afforded a little privacy. Nice Job NASCAR! You have given me and many other fans a big boost for the season and you should be complimented.

On the JNFL side of things, the website is up and running with very minor issues at best and from the last report all is well at JNFL Headquarters. Standing pages are updated but are not official till all is checked again on Monday night. Looks like most of the team owners had it narrowed down to a handful of drivers with Tony Stewart and Dale Jr on the top of the pick list. The top of the heep right now is those team owners who took Newman or his teammate Kurt Busch. Nice Job!  Check out the standings to see how well your driver did for you. Lots of ties in the start of a season but it will balance out before to long. Great Job to everyone for getting their picks in on time and starting the season off on a high note. On a low note Jeff Gordon, Mark Martin, Jimmy Johnson and a couple others didn't do so well and helped several JNFL team owners from the couch to the toilet. I hope you all feel better soon.

I am starting a JNFL team owner e-mail page so send those questions and comments. A monthly prize will be given by the Rogue for the best of the month e-mail so be creative!! As always you can sign in and use the JNFL Forum to post a comment as well. Send any e-mail to me the rogue at: This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it

Thanks and good luck next week at California!
